‘People have to be able to trust you and for that to happen, you have to trust yourself. You have to know yourself quite well. People know right away what you are up to when you lay your hands on them.’ ~ Steve Capellini

SWEDISH MASSAGE - Light to medium pressure 30 mins / 60 mins
This is the most common type of massage therapy, this is the style that comes to mind when most people think about massage. The goal is to relax the entire body and this is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart
Swedish massage uses a combination of these basic movements:
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE - Medium to strong pressure 30 mins/ 60 mins
As the name suggests, deep tissue massage applies deep pressure onto specific trouble points. Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage but is used to target knots and release chronic muscle tension. The more intense movements and techniques such as deep finger pressure are used to generate the desired relaxation and pain relief
It's not just more pressure all over your body, however, it is a very specific, methodical treatment.
SPORTS MASSAGE - Medium to strong pressure 30 mins/ 60 mins
Sports massage is designed specifically for the very physically active (whether you're a professional athlete or not). It combines Swedish, Shiatsu, and other techniques to concentrate on the areas that are related to your sport. Athletes often get sports massages to prepare for peak performance, prevent injury, and also treat injury. The particulars of the massage are specific to the athlete’s sport of choice and are often focused on a particular troublesome area like a knee or shoulder.
The benefits and effects of sports massage include physical effects such as circulating blood and lymphatic fluids as well as stretching muscle tissue and breaking down scar tissue.
AROMATHERAPY - Light to medium pressure 45 mins
The Aromatherapy Essential Oils I use are organic, high quality and hand blended.
Essential oils are extracted from herbs, flowers and fruits to naturally enhance wellbeing. They are made up of very small molecules, which means they can easily absorb into the body. The oils have a positive effect on the skin, penetrating into the deeper layers to encourage the process of cellular renewal, enhance blood circulation and help heal health issues such as acne, eczema and aging skin.
REFLEXOLOGY - Medium to strong pressure 30 mins
Reflexology is thought to have been passed down through an oral tradition, and possibly first recorded as a pictograph on the Egyptian tomb of Ankhamor in 2330 BC along with other medical procedures. The translation of the hieroglyphics are as follows: "Don’t hurt me." The practitioner’s reply:- " I shall act so you praise me. " Reflexology symbols are thought to be recorded on the feet of statues of Buddha in India and later China.
Reflexology is much more than a foot massage, but at it’s foundation, that’s the easiest way to describe the process. The feet are moved and stretched, with pressure applied on reflex areas that correspond to specific organs and other parts of the body.
Some of the benefits of reflexology include its ability to stimulate nerve function, increase energy, boost circulation, eliminate toxins, stimulate the central nervous system, prevent migraines, clean up urinary tract conditions, speed recovery after injury or surgery, help relieve sleep disorders, reduce depression, and relieves pain.
HEAD, NECK AND SHOULDER MASSAGE- Light to medium pressure 20 mins
For most of us the head and neck area is where we hold our tension due to our modern lifestyles. A head, neck and shoulder massage is a wonderful way to ease shoulder and neck tension while gaining a peaceful retreat from the outside world. Pressure points around the head, face and neck are kneaded or manipulated in circular motions.
Head, Neck and Shoulder massage can:
HOT STONE MASSAGE- Medium to light pressure 75 mins
Native tribes of Hawaii and Tibet, American Indians and Chinese practitioners have used this therapy to help treat medical problems and ease tension in the mind and also dealing with the body making it a holistic whole body treatment. Using stones can penetrate the muscle fibres to a deeper level than manual massage alone.
During a hot stone massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body such as the spine, palms and feet. The stones are usually made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat. Hot massage stones are heated to between 130 and 145 degrees. The Stones are held as your body is massaged using Swedish massage techniques of strokes and circular motions.
The thermal conduction of the stones brings about local and systemic changes in the body, influencing the energy centres, balancing both body and mind. A combination of the unique energies of the stones and universal energy assist the balancing of the body’s internal energy flow.
